Durham, NC, June 2, 2022 – 410 Medical, Inc, the manufacturer of the LifeFlow PLUS Blood & Fluid Infuser, is pleased to announce that it has recently received a U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) contract to develop the next generation LifeFlow, LifeFlow Advanced Resuscitation System. LifeFlow ARS will utilize the same compact, easy-to-use, features of LifeFlow PLUS, the currently marketed blood and fluid infuser, but will be ruggedized for use in austere environments and include advanced features designed to improved combat casualty care.
The leading cause of preventable battlefield death is uncontrolled hemorrhage, with most casualties dying from severe blood loss prior to arrival at a medical treatment facility. Initiation of blood product resuscitation within minutes of injury dramatically improves survival, and every minute of delay in initiating blood transfusion increases mortality by 5%.
Galen Robertson, COO of 410 Medical, commented, “Significant progress has been made on techniques for achieving better hemostasis in the field, but none of the current products have focused on rapid, precise, and portable methods of blood transfusion. We are excited to collaborate with the military to develop a next generation infuser specifically designed for transfusion in austere environments.”
