410 Medical Receives DoD Funding for LifeFlow Ultra

Aug 23, 2022 |

Durham, NC, August 23, 2022 – 410 Medical, Inc, the LifeFlow PLUS Blood & Fluid Infuser manufacturer, is pleased to announce that it has recently received an Air Force AFWERX Phase II SBIR Award to develop the LifeFlow Ultra. This innovative ultra-compact rapid infuser is designed for operational environments where space, weight, and power supply are at an absolute premium. Like the currently marketed LifeFlow PLUS, LifeFlow Ultra will enable healthcare providers to transfuse blood and fluids quickly for patients with hemorrhagic shock.

Uncontrolled hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable battlefield death, with most casualties dying from severe blood loss prior to arrival at a medical treatment facility. Initiating blood product resuscitation within minutes of injury dramatically improves survival, and every minute delay in starting blood transfusion increases mortality by 5%.

Galen Robertson, COO of 410 Medical, commented, “We are excited to expand our US military collaboration to fill an identified capability gap by developing an ultra-simple, ultra-compact rapid infuser that easily fits into a medic’s pack and facilitates effective resuscitation closer to the point of injury. Concurrent with this AFWERX award, 410 Medical is developing the LifeFlow Advanced Resuscitation System, announced in June, which will include automation and other advanced features while still giving the medic the tools needed to support Tactical Combat Casualty Care and damage control resuscitation.”
