Research Triangle Park, NC, November 9, 2023 – 410 Medical, Inc, focused on early resuscitation of emergent patients with shock and hypotension, is pleased to announce that it has recently completed an Air Force AFWERX Phase II SBIR Award to advance the development of LifeFlow Ultra. This innovative ultra-compact rapid infuser is designed for operational environments where space, weight, and power supply are at an absolute premium. Like the currently marketed LifeFlow PLUS, LifeFlow Ultra will enable healthcare providers to transfuse blood and IV fluids quickly for patients with hemorrhagic shock.
Uncontrolled hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable battlefield death, with most casualties dying from severe blood loss prior to arrival at a medical treatment facility. Initiating blood product resuscitation within minutes of injury dramatically improves survival, and every minute delay in starting blood transfusion increases mortality by 5%. Military medical technicians involved in the design process added, “improving damage control resuscitation in austere prehospital environments, including enroute care, is a critical military priority.”
